The 90-Day Franchise Onboarding Playbook
Franchisees fail for predictable reasons: inconsistent training, unclear standards, and no verification before opening day. A structured 90-day path fixes all three.
Multi-site brands live or die on consistency. Customers do not grade your best location — they remember your worst one. Yet most franchise onboarding is a binder, a WhatsApp group, and hope.
A repeatable 90-day structure changes the odds. The outline below is the one we see work across education and F&B brands.
Days 1–30: Absorb The Standard
The franchisee and their opening team work through the brand's core curriculum: brand story, product standards, service scripts, safety and compliance. Every course ends in a scored quiz — knowledge is verified, not assumed. Access is scoped: partners see partner content, never HQ internals.
Days 31–60: Demonstrate Under Observation
Knowledge turns into demonstrated skill. HQ trainers or area managers run observation checklists on the floor — opening procedure, peak-hour service, complaint handling. Each sign-off is recorded against the person, with a date and an observer. Weak spots route back to specific courses, not generic 'retraining'.
Days 61–90: Certify And Hand Over
Opening certification requires every required skill to be currently verified — not 'covered', verified. The opening checklist itself lives in the same system, so HQ sees readiness in real time instead of asking for photos in a group chat.
After opening, the same machinery keeps standards alive: recertification cycles, refreshed SOP versions with re-acknowledgement, and an AI assistant that answers from the brand playbook — so the franchisee's team asks the system instead of guessing.
